The water jacket centrifuge, also known as the gold mine water jacket centrifugal concentrator, is a gravity beneficiation equipment developed by Jinqiang. The principle of a water jacket centrifugal concentrator is to use centrifugal force to expand the gravity of mineral particles and separate heavy and light particles. Its key component is a conical enrichment cone, driven by an electric motor, which rotates at high speed and is surrounded by pressure backwash water. The materials entering the centrifuge are usually the minerals ground by the ball mill or the overflow slurry of the Hydrocyclone. The slurry is injected from the upper end of the enrichment cone to the bottom of the enrichment cone. There are grooves formed by rows of ribs inside the enrichment cone. The centrifugal force generated by the rotation of the enrichment cone will throw the mineral into the groove. However, due to the outward jet of backwash water in the groove, only heavy mineral particles can overcome the resistance of backwash water and remain in the groove to form concentrate. Due to the small centrifugal force, light minerals are difficult to overcome the effect of backwash water. They are washed out of the groove by backwash water and overflow from the upper end of the enrichment cone under the driving force of continuously injected water, becoming tailings.

The water jacket centrifuge can not only be used for placer gold mines, but also for natural gold recovery in rock mines, instead of using the mixed mercury extraction method, and can also be used for gold recovery from tailings. The beneficiation test has proven that the recovery rate of placer gold is over 99%, and the selection rate reaches 1000 times. Especially when recovering natural gold from vein gold mines, when the grinding particle size is less than 0.074mm, the recovery rate of single gold can reach over 98%, and the recovery rate of 0.04mm single gold can reach over 97%.

When the centrifugal concentrator is working, the selected slurry is first fed into the feed distributor through the feed pipe, and then flows into the feed tank. It enters the centrifuge drum through the pipe, and the slurry is fed into the inner wall of the drum head along the rotation direction of the drum. The drum rotates at a speed of 150-500 revolutions per minute. Under the action of centrifugal force and flow film, heavy minerals precipitate on the inner wall of the drum, becoming concentrates that rotate with the drum. Light minerals are washed away by the flow film along the slope direction of the drum on the surface of the concentrate layer, becoming tailings that flow into the receiving tank and then into the tailings tank through the discharge separator. After the ore feeding is completed, the control mechanism deflects the ore feeding distributor to the return slurry tank, stops feeding the drum, and then uses high-pressure water to reverse the rotation direction of the drum, flushing the concentrate near the inner wall and discharging it into the concentrate tank. After the concentrate is washed, the flushing valve is closed, and the feed and discharge distributors automatically return to feed and start another cycle of beneficiation.
