Seashore zirconium ore is an important mineral resource mainly used for manufacturing ceramics, optical glass, electronic components, etc. in high-tech products. In coastal sand, the content of zirconium ore is relatively low, usually only around 0.2%~0.5%. Therefore, how to beneficiate is a very important issue. In this article, we will introduce a simple and feasible beneficiation method to help everyone better extract zirconium ore from coastal sand.
1、 Characteristics of Seashore Sand Zirconium Mine
Seaside zircon ore is mainly distributed in coastal areas, and its main components are quartz, feldspar, mica, Biotite, Ilmenite, Hematite, etc. Among them, the content of zirconium ore is relatively low, usually only around 0.2%~0.5%. In addition, coastal sand also contains a certain amount of impurities such as silicon, titanium, and iron, which poses certain difficulties for the extraction of zirconium ore.
2、 Beneficiation method
1. Magnetic separation method
Hematite and Ilmenite in seashore sand have strong magnetism and can be beneficiated by magnetic separation. The specific operation steps are as follows:
(1) Crush the coastal sand into a certain particle size, usually around 0.5mm~1mm;
(2) Place the crushed beach sand into a magnetic separator for magnetic separation;
(3) Magnetic minerals such as Hematite and Ilmenite are separated from coastal sand by magnetic separation, thus increasing the content of zircon.
2. Reselection method
The proportion of zirconium ore in coastal sand is relatively large, usually ranging from 4.5 to 5.0g/cm ³, The specific gravity of impurities such as silicon and titanium is relatively small, usually ranging from 2.6 to 3.5g/cm ³, Therefore, mineral processing can be carried out through the gravity separation method. The specific operation steps are as follows:
(1) Crush the coastal sand into a certain particle size, usually around 0.5mm~1mm;
(2) Place the crushed beach sand into a gravity separator for gravity separation;
(3) By gravity separation, the zirconium ore with a higher proportion is separated from the coastal sand, thereby increasing the content of zirconium ore.
3. Acid leaching method
Zirconium ore in coastal sand usually exists in the form of minerals such as quartz and feldspar, so it can be beneficiated through acid leaching. The specific operation steps are as follows:
(1) Crush the coastal sand into a certain particle size, usually around 0.5mm~1mm;
(2) Put the crushed beach sand into an acid leaching tank and add a certain amount of concentrated hydrochloric acid;
(3) Dissolve zirconium ore from coastal sand under certain temperature and time conditions, thereby increasing the content of zirconium ore.
3、 Summary
Seashore sand zirconium ore is an important mineral resource, but its zirconium content is relatively low, usually only around 0.2%~0.5%. Therefore, how to beneficiate is a very important issue. This article introduces three simple and feasible beneficiation methods, including magnetic separation, gravity separation, and acid leaching. Through these methods, the content of zirconium ore in coastal sand can be effectively increased, providing effective technical means for the extraction and utilization of zirconium ore.
